Review of general principles

Identify the Purpose of the Site

  • What is the goal of the site?
  • What is its audience?
  • What is the site trying to persuade the audience to think?

Site Architecture

Make use of chunking/diagrams/other information architecture concepts from earlier in the course.

Create site inventory, using the following questions:

  • What files are in the site?
    • List all the files
  • How is the site structured?
    • Sketch a map or diagram of the entire site
  • What experience or metaphor is this structure built around?
    • Name the guiding metaphors used to organize structure
    • List/brainstorm aspects of that metaphor
  • How is the site navigated?
    • Use wayfinding and keywords
  • What is on each page?
    • List features used in all pages
    • List Features used within particular parts of the site
